Thank Offering 2021: Creation Ministries

By Bro. Vince Kluth
Ken Ham's book, Already Gone, reports that a high percentage of youth raised in a Christian environment - such as those who regularly attended their church, Sunday school, and enrolled in a Christian school - depart from the faith when they take their first biology class in college.

Ken Ham’s book, Already Gone, reports that a high percentage of youth raised in a Christian environment – such as those who regularly attended their church, Sunday school, and enrolled in a Christian school - depart from the faith when they take their first biology class in college. The dispassionate academic professor appears to have all the answers for the origin of life while undermining faith in the Bible’s true and accurate account of the world’s beginning.  Why believe the Bible when you can’t trust the opening chapter?

Science as we know it today is not neutral. Worldly professor and self-proclaimed Marxist Richard Lewontin famously wrote, “Our willingness to accept scientific claims that are against common sense is the key to an understanding of the real struggle between science and the supernatural. We take the side of science in spite of the patent absurdity of some of its constructs, in spite of its failure to fulfill many of its extravagant promises of health and life, in spite of the tolerance of the scientific community for unsubstantiated just-so stories, because we have a prior commitment, a commitment to materialism.”

Lewontin continues: “It is not that the methods and institutions of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the phenomenal world, but, on the contrary, that we are forced by our a-priori adherence to material causes to create an apparatus of investigation and a set of concepts that produce material explanations, no matter how counter-intuitive, no matter how mystifying to the uninitiated. Moreover, that materialism is absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door [1] (underlines, mine).

This most serious error is not only recognized by the scientific community but is somehow tolerated by parents who take out huge loans to send their children to worship at the feet of the high priests of academia.  The truth is desperately needed, and there are several ministries who valiantly provide it and make good observational science available to the public.  We at MBC seek to support those creation-based ministries.  We list two of our favorites here who still use the KJV or NKJV.

Creation Ministries International (CMI; at creation.com) employ over two dozen scientists in the US, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and in Europe to research and proclaim God’s truths in the fields of plant science, geology, molecular biology, chemistry, fluvial geomorphology, nuclear physics, computational mathematics, zoology, physical chemistry, marine biology and atmospheric science. My personal favorite is Dr. Jonathan Sarfati who is an exceptionally clear researcher.  His logical presentations are insightful and backed by KJV Scripture yet written at a level reachable by the average layman.  If I have any unusual question, such as how to counter the flat earth theory, their website offers exceptionally deep and rich material.

The Institute for Creation Research (ICR, at icr.org) has long held a special place in my personal conversion.  I graduated a theistic evolutionist from the Univ. of TX Austin.  It took only one trip to their small museum in El Cajon, CA to destroy my professors’ teachings of uniformitarianism (which is the belief that, in the words of God through Peter, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation).  An ICR exhibit showed sandstone with a Chevrolet key poking out. That obviously didn’t occur 1 million years ago.  It immediately clicked:  the conditions present during Noah’s flood easily accounted for all the major geologic formations we see.  I read The Genesis Flood by founder Henry Morris and John Whitcomb and was amazed at the overwhelming amount of evidence for the flood.  As God said, they hold [suppress] the truth in unrighteousness.

Scripture asks, if the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?  God often hands out His business card as Creator of the Universe when confronting a spiritually darkened people, as often noted throughout the major prophets.  When men don’t see God as their Creator, they have no accountability, and thus no fear of God before their eyes.  These are worthy matters to address, and both CMI and ICR stand well equipped as our thank offering partner in ministry.
